When you install Nova Chartwheels your default location is set to Brewster ma. You can change that by going to the new chart entry screen and entering in your own location, and before you hit the ok button put a check mark where it says 'save as defaults'

Second, when you hit the home key it goes back to the original location of the natal chart, even if you have changed the location in the meantime. When you hit the change place button the change is only temporary until you hit home again and then it reverts.

If you want to change the location permanently, then click on the actual name of the place inside the wheel/dial window. This will bring up the box where you can change the natal data. All of the text inside of window (like name, place, date, house system, etc) is click able, and you can click on those to change them quickly.

"2) Clicking on East Brewster brings up a 'select a new place' window with three buttons: OK, Cancel, and Help. Only the Cancel button does anything and what it does do is not to cancel the new location but to accept it instead."
That is the way it will react if you have the 'Tran', 'Prog' or 'SA' buttons pressed down, which I'll explain below.

"3) If the Tran, Prog, or SA buttons are pushed in, the location can not be changed. The 'select a new place' window pops up, but it has no effect."

When you have any of those dynamic buttons selected, then the behavior of the 'working data' info changes. Including the place. If you change the place now then it assumes that you want to change not the birth location but the current location to be used in calculating the transits. If you look carefully you will see that the ascendant and midheaven of the transiting points change.

When you hit the home button it clears everything and gives you back the same chart you were looking at when you first opened that window. With one exception, it wont' remove any midpoints or sensitive points that you added onto the wheel or dial with the 'add' button. If you want to get rid of those also though you can right click on the home button and it will clear those too.
