Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
This policy explains how Astrolabe handles personal information when you visit our websites, buy or use our products and services, request a chart or report, contact us, subscribe to marketing, or use Solar Fire X.
1. Who we are
Astrolabe, Incorporated, also known as Astrolabe, Inc., is responsible for the personal information covered by this policy. Our contact details are in section 14.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact, account, order, delivery and payment information
- Product registration, license, activation and support information
- Chart or report information, including names, birth dates, birth times, birth places and information about another person you are authorized to provide
- Messages, files and other information you send to customer support
- Marketing subscription and unsubscribe records
- Website technical information, such as IP address, browser, device, requested pages and essential session or cart identifiers
- Solar Fire X information described in section 4
If required information is not provided, we may be unable to complete an order, activate software, create a chart or provide support.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Process orders and payments, deliver services, activate products and provide support
- Create requested charts, reports and other services
- Operate, secure and improve our websites, software and services
- Prevent fraud and security incidents
- Send marketing where permitted by law and your preferences
- Keep required records, comply with law and handle legal claims
Where European Economic Area or UK law applies, the legal grounds are:
Contract: processing orders and payments, delivering products and requested charts or reports, activation and support needed to fulfill your purchase.
Legal obligation: keeping records and complying with applicable law.
Legitimate interests: operating and securing our services, preventing fraud and handling legal claims.
Consent: marketing where consent is required.
4. Solar Fire X
Solar Fire X stores chart data, settings and diagnostic information on your computer. Your local chart library is not automatically sent to Astrolabe. The software sends the information needed for license activation and any online feature you choose to use.
Crash reporting is on by default. You can turn it off at any time in Preferences. A report may include technical details, recent activity, filenames, file paths, text you entered and an image of the Solar Fire X window. This may include chart, client or birth information visible when the failure occurred.
We use crash reports only to diagnose problems, provide support, protect the software and improve the product. Reports are encrypted in transit, stored on secure servers controlled by Astrolabe and available only to authorized personnel. We normally delete them within 90 days, or within 12 months when needed for an unresolved problem.
5. Cookies and analytics
Our websites use cookies for site operation, shopping carts and security. You can control cookies through your browser, but blocking necessary cookies may prevent parts of the website from working.
We use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand visits, navigation and checkout stages on public pages. This integration sends page and event information without form entries, chart or report output, or personal URL parameters. Google receives technical information about your browser and device. Analytics identity cookies are disabled. PostHog uses a daily server-generated hash based on IP address, browser information, and hostname to measure visits without analytics identity cookies or browser identity storage; session recording and person profiles are disabled. PostHog processes this information in the United States and retains analytics events for one year under the current plan.
Use these controls to turn analytics off or back on for this browser across alabe.com and its subdomains. Your choice lasts up to 180 days. Repeat your choice on other browsers or devices.
6. Marketing
You can unsubscribe from any marketing email. We keep a minimal suppression record so that we honor your choice.
7. Sharing information
We may share information with providers that help us with payments, shopping carts, email, hosting, security, maps, support and delivery. We may also share it with a dealer involved in your order, professional advisers, authorities when required, or a successor to the business.
Providers receive only the information needed for their service and are subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information.
8. Retention
We normally keep:
- Order, payment, tax, customer and license records for up to seven years after the last relevant transaction or support contact
- Chart or report input for 30 days after delivery
- Support messages and attachments for three years after the matter closes
- Website and security logs for 30 days, unless needed for an investigation
- Raw crash reports, logs and images for 90 days, or up to 12 months for an unresolved problem
Marketing preference records while needed to honor your choice
We then delete or de-identify the information unless law or a legal claim requires longer retention.
9. International transfers
Astrolabe is based in the United States. We and our providers may process information in other countries.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls and secure storage. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
11. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of your personal information
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion, subject to records we must keep
- Restrict or object to certain uses
- Receive a portable copy of information you provided
- Withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful use
- Stop direct marketing
- Appeal or request review of a denied privacy request
Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email to stop marketing. Turn off crash reporting in Solar Fire X to stop future reports. Email astrolabe@alabe.com to make another request. We may need to verify your identity or authority. You may also complain to the privacy regulator where you live.
12. Children
Our websites and software are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. An authorized adult may request a chart or report about a minor. Contact us if you believe a child submitted personal information without required permission.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or legal obligations change. We will update the date at the top and provide any notice required by law.
